On March 24, 2018, hundreds of student-led demonstrations around the world were held in support of tighter gun control laws. The world-wide protests were in response to the February 14 mass shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, in which 17 students and faculty members were killed and 17 others wounded.

The size of the crowd in Fort Worth was estimated at 8,000. The size of the crowd in Dallas was estimated at 15-20,000.
