Inspired by anti-austerity protests in Spain by the 15-M movement, the Occupy Wall Street protest began on September 17, 2011 in Zuccotti Park, located in New York City's Wall Street financial district. The demonstrators gathered to protest social and economic inequality and the harmful and corrupt influence of corporations on government. The movement, with it's familiar slogan, "We are the 99%" quickly spread throughout the world.
In early October 2011, I embarked on a month long road trip throughout Texas to document the OWS movement in my home state. I visited six different major Texas metropolitan areas: Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Austin, Houston, and Denton which is home to the University of North Texas.
